Update

I wanted to type a quick message to give everyone an update on Brian. Two weeks ago Brian has 3 grand mal seizures. Luckily it was in the middle of the night rather than when I was at school. He was rushed to the hospital where they were eventually able to get get the seizures under control. He spent 3 days in the hospital and then was released to go home.

Once he was home, we quickly realized that he was not well. The next week brought many obstacles. Greg, Marshi, Abby, my parents, and my sister were there to support both me and Brian. Brian was in extreme pain and very uncomfortable. We were not able to meet all of his needs at home. On Friday the 10th, we made to difficult decision to move Brian to hospice.

Over the past few days it has been confirmed many times that Brian is in the right place. The nurses and staff and amazing and have a heart of compassion. I was asking a nurse tech if she was going to continue nursing here when she finished school. She said, "You know...at every other hospital anyone can walk in and choose to be a patient, but here...God chooses who the patients are." Her reply brought tears to my eye and once again confirmed to me that Brian was in the right place.

Please continue to keep Brian in your prayers, and I am also going to ask that you keep our families in your prayers as well. This is such a hard time. Brian's faith has continued to shine in such an amazing way. It is unshakable and knowing that makes this a little more bearable. God is holding Brian close and He is in control.

peace and love
Shea

We are sorry to hear of your difficult decision in sending Brian to hospice; however, I also know that it was the correct decision and best for the whole family. We hope the pain management they are providing is working and we think about you daily. Our many thoughts and prayers are with ALL of you. Shea,
You don't know me, but I found your blog through Cori's blog. I've also been keeping up with y'all through her Facebook posts for the last couple of years.
Tonight, my heart is hurting for you. I can't even imagine what you must be going through. Please know that even though we don't know one another, I am praying for your strength, for Brian's healing, for peace.

Shea Bird-

Cason and I have been lifting you and Brian up in prayer constantly over the past several weeks. You both amaze me and are a testament of complete faith and true love.

Our prayer continues to be that Brian would be covered in peace and that you would both feel the Lord's arms wrapped around you.

Much love,

My most gracious and Heavenly Father, I thank you for bringing these two together and guiding this entire family to your side during this illness. Thank you for continuing to hold them close to you. I pray that you comfort and love them the way only you can Father. Most of all I thank you that you continue to show your love and grace through each of them. In Jesus' name, Amen!

Brain, Shea and Family,
I'm not sure if Brian would remember me(Kim Tarbox) but he would remember my husband (Jim). They had several conversations about Northwood University in which they are both Alumni. We were in Marshi and Greg's 20 Group for many years. Your family has been in our thoughts and prayers during Brian's illness. You are both very inspirational individuals to say the least. Your strength and courage is one of a kind.
Sending all our love and hugs to all the Lair's. The Tarbox Family (Rhode Island).

I don't know what to say except that I'm so glad to have spent time with Brian. What a lucky guy to have so much family, friends and love surrounding him. He's lucky to have you Shea. It pains my heart to think of what you all are going through. God is still faithful with you all every step, with every "stepper" and may he hold you all in the palm of His hand during this difficult time. With heartfelt love & prayers.

Shea - You dont know me and wife either but Brian was a door for us into the Lair family back when we were in Red River and they were regulars. I was Brians ski race coach for many years. I just wanted you to know that Brian holds a special place in our hearts and now you do too. You two have been in our hearts and our prayers through Brians journey and will continue to be there forever. We are so thankful that Brian has such a strong woman in his corner. He is truly blessed to have found you. Please keep your faith in GOD and his plan, for it will serve you well down the road. Know that myself and my wife have been and will continue to pray for you and Brian and Brians family. LOVE to you and Brian -- Mel and Christy Davis

Not sure that Brian will remember me (Craig Root)during his time at Northwood, but please know that my wife and I are praying for his complete healing and for strength for you and your family. God is amazing. We believe that all things are possible through Jesus Christ. Even through the pain and challenges Brian and you are experiencing, God's mighty plan for you and Brian is at work and is being manifested through so many lives you have all touched. God's Blessings, Peace, and Healing be on all of you and your families.

Brian
I haven't seen or spoken to you in almost 10 years, but through my parents, Rick & Laura Reyher, I have tried to stay up to date with what's been going on in your life. It's truly amazing to read & hear about the Brian of today! What an inspiration you and your wife are to so many people! My prayers are with you & your family. I will never forget Disciple Now when all of the 'guys' stayed at our house. I was never so glad to not be at my home since I think that the 'boy' stench would have driven the toughest man away! I remember my dad saying at the time that you were such a leader and just didn't know it yet. He is so proud of the leader that you have become.
Many prayers being sent your direction,
Melissa Reyher White

Brian, Shae and family,
I have so many fond memories from Northwood and will always look back on those days with a smile. Kristina and I were just reminiscing on the days we would sit outside the dorms talking and trying to solve the problems of the world. Brian, you are an inspiration to so many and I am blessed to know you. Shae, we have never met but I hope you know that you are an angel and so many people are praying for you. Thank you for posting and keeping everyone informed. All my love and prayers, Courtney.

Shea,
I went to school with Brian at the Northwood Texas Campus. I was able to visit with him and his parents on my way home to California for a summer break. I am sorry to hear of Brian's passing, I wish you the very best. It is obvious your love for eachother as you married knowing the difficulties the two of you would face. May god bless you and Brian's family in the challenging days to come.
